Description

  • The ‘Sewagram Nisarg Honey’ is exclusively collected from the natural nests of the rock bees through non-violent eco-friendly techniques by the trained honey collectors.
  • It means that trained tribespeople are gathering honey without harming the bees, their nests, and their habitats.
  • At each harvest, only 2/3rd of honey is harvested by leaving 1/3rd stock behind for the bees themselves, thus extending the life of the bees.
  • Since no smoke or fire is used during honey harvesting, quality, taste, or quality do not deteriorate.
  • The rock bee honey harvested by SNTRM techniques does not contain any brood juices as it is exclusively extracted by chopping honeycombs into pieces.
  • During the summer season, the natural flowers are foraged by the bees for making honey. Thus, 100% natural or organic quality honey is harvested from the unpolluted, clean forest environment.
  • Processing of procured rock bee honey is also performed very meticulously to conserve the natural aroma, flavor, and medicinal properties of harvested honey. It also means that the natural enzymes, amino acids, proteins, vitamins, etc. are retained.
  • For this, a very simple instrument called the “low-cost honey processor’ has been designed by CBeeD to warm “raw honey” at a controlled temperature of 50–530C for a period of 8 hrs according to the moisture content in each batch.
  • Here, raw honey is just warmed only to kill osmiophilic yeast so that the process of fermentation is averted and moisture reduction is done to increase its self-life.
  • Finally, bottling and packing of processed honey are performed hygienically in food-grade bottles of different sizes and even big stainless steel containers of 200 kg capacity.
  • In comparison to apiary honey, rock bee honey naturally contains more pollen.
  • Therefore, during long-term storage, the brownish scum floats at the top of containers or bottles. This scum is of floated pollen grains and indicates that honey is not ultra-filtered and has the best medicinal as well as nutritional properties.
  • The medicinal and therapeutical properties of forest honey seem better as compared to the honey gathered from cultivated crops.
  • A chemical analysis shows that rock bee honey contains high reducing sugar (fruit sugar) and less non-reducing sugar (sucrose) as compared to honey derived from apiary bees.
  • Analytical details of Sevagram Nisarg honey as per the AGMARK specifications in CBeeD’s Laboratory:
